According to Geo News, 90% of Karachi is currently without electricity due to a decrease in the national grid’s system frequency at 7:34am, as reported by the Ministry of Energy.

The Ministry of Energy has announced that a decrease in the national grid’s system frequency at 7:34am has caused a widespread power breakdown in multiple cities across Pakistan, with 90% of Karachi affected. Power distribution companies, such as K-Electric, have confirmed the news, stating that the national grid experienced a “loss of frequency” which cascaded to their network, affecting the power supply to Karachi. Additionally, Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) reported that the power outage also affected 22 districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, and multiple areas of Karachi.
